Chris is…

A current Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Politics and Public Administration at Toronto Metropolitan University

A born-and-raised Hamiltonian, I earned a PhD in Geography from McGill University in 2022. My work is inspired by my own interdisciplinary educational journey and focuses on a wide array of topics, such as:

  • municipal politics (partisanship, candidate identity, and school board issues)

  • electoral politics (issues of identity, nominations, and electoral geography)

  • populism (right-wing populism in Ontario, across Canada, and online)

  • democratic engagement and citizenship (active citizenship, electoral systems, and voter perspectives)

  • housing (student housing, cooperatives, and community engagement)

  • queer spaces (gay villages, spaces of intimacy, and queer community in the digital age)

  • local history (the history of Hamilton, Ontario and the surrounding region)
